CHAILEY DISTRICT COUNCIL

A GLYNDE FOOTPATH TO BE DIVERTED

A letter was read from Mr Thomas Pickard, of the Glynde Estate Office, stating that Mr George Moore, the tenant of Comps Farm, Beddingham, had approached him relative to the diversion of a footpath across his farm, and he understood that he had also spoken to the Beddingham Parish Council on the matter and they had given their consent subject to the verification of the District Council. The path in question ran from near Glynde station towards the church at Beddingham, and, in consequence of the original hedges having been removed many years ago, a portion of the path ran through the centre of what was now an arable field, which, in the course of cultivation, was ploughed up annually. He enclosed a plan showing the path from road to road, the present footpath, and the proposed diversion. There would be a fence on the north side of the path for its entire length, and as it was proposed to run the path close to the fence it was not likely to be interfered with in the course of the cultivation of the adjoining land.

The CHAIRMAN said the proposed diversion would involve a rather complicated procedure, and he moved that the matter be referred to the Highways Committee.

Mr HAWKINS seconded.

Mr KILLICK intimated that Beddingham Parish Council would approve of the diversion at their next meeting, but they had rather a job to get a meeting (laughter).

The motion was carried.
