William Underwood of 41 Balham Grove, Balham, Surrey, and former landlord of the Trevor Arms, died in 1892, aged 82, and was buried in Glynde churchyard on 13 May. On 24 June 1892 Wisdoms, in the occupation of Stephen Lusted, and the three attached cottages were advertised for sale in the East Sussex News. The sale was at the Bear Hotel, Cliffe, Lewes on Tuesday 28 June.

Frederick William Lusted of the Post Office, Glynde, grocer, was the highest bidder at the price of £420. He remained the owner of the house until his death in 1946 when the houses passed to his eldest unmarried daughter Elizabeth (Lizzie), who lived and worked at the village Post Office with her father and unmarried sister Gladys. In 1953 Lizzie and Gladys retired and moved into Wisdoms after having substantial improvements made to the houses. The two tiny houses to the south of Wisdoms were converted into a single house which was given the name of Welsted in recognition of the link between the Lusted and Weller families early in the nineteenth century. On Elizabeth’s death her sister Gladys Lusted inherited the property and when she died her youngest sister Ida Kingdon of Mannings Heath, West Sussex, inherited the property. Ida Kingdon sold Welsted and, when she died, the remainder of the property passed to her daughter Barbara Giffin.
