GLYNDE

GLYNDE SOLDIER KILLED: The inhabitants of the village feel much sympathy with Mr and Mrs Stephen Funnell, 21 Trevor Gardens, whose eldest son has been killed at the Front. A notification was received from the War Office last Sunday that Arthur Funnell, a private in the 3rd Battalion Coldstream Guards, had been killed in action at St Julien on October 22nd. He was 29 years of age, six feet in height and finely built; and very well liked by all. His mother received a letter from him stating that he was alright the same day that he was killed. He was a Reservist, and was for some years in the employ of Messrs Newington and Co, by whom his father has been employed for many years.
