DANCE – Over 70 people attended a long night dance on Monday evening at the Reading Room. The event was organised by the Reading Room Committee in aid of the local Boy Scouts’ fund, which will benefit by over £5. Music was supplied by the Glyndolians Dance Band. Mr Harold Turner was MC and the room was prettily decorated by Miss Eileen Cox. The spot waltz was won by Miss Cox and Mr Barnett, and the spot quickstep by Miss Simmonds and Miss Reed, these prizes being given by Mr H Turner. Special prize-winners were:- 1, Miss Tompsett (Laughton), bottle of port given by Mr A Bishop (Glynde); 2, Miss Betty Lusted (Glynde), box of cigarettes given by Miss Tompsett (Firle); 3, Miss Richardson (Ringmer), tin of biscuits given by Mr C Lusted (Glynde). The refreshments were given by Mrs Moorey, Mrs E Lewis, Miss Irene Hutson, Mrs Kent, Mrs Holding, Mrs Humphrey, Mrs W Goldsmith, Mrs Cox, Mrs C Lusted, Mrs C Tasker, Mrs MacLaren, Mrs Kendrew, the Rev and Mrs W H Wright, Mrs F Hutson (Brigden’s Farm), Miss Unstead, Mrs Hastings, Mrs Colman, Mrs Davis, Miss Hastings, Mrs Allport, Mrs W Lusted, Mrs Hall and Mrs Barlow.
