DEATH OF MR H WELLER

The death of Mr Henry Weller occurred last Saturday at Malthouse Cottage, the residence of his son, Mr George Weller. Deceased, who was 75 years of age, had been suffering a long time from cancer. His wife predeceased him by eleven years, and he leaves two sons and one daughter. In his younger days Mr Weller was a keen cricketer, and in late years invariably acted as umpire st the harvest home matches, etc. He was a native of Glynde, as also were his father, the late Mr David Weller, and his grandfather, who, it is of interest to relate, was the landlord of the old 'Fox and Hounds', long passed as a licensed house, but still standing and known as Pear Tree Cottage, adjoining the Post Office. The funeral took place at Glynde Churchyard on Wednesday afternoon, the Vicar Rev W E Dalton officiating. The mourners were:- Mr and Mrs George Weller (son and daughter-in-law), Mrs G Burgess (daughter), Mr Tom Weller (son), Master Victor Weller (grandson), Miss Weller (cousin), Mrs Stanford and Mr T W Pickard, Floral tributes with inscriptions were sent by the following:- 'With love from Aunt Lou and Gertie', 'With sympathy and kind remembrances from Mrs A Elphick', 'To dear father with love from us all – George, Tom and Bess', 'To dear grand-dad with love from Victor.
