Mr Reuben Harmer, aged 87, died last week at the Poor Law Institution, Newhaven, after a short illness. Mr Harmer was a native of Ashburnham, and in his younger days he travelled about the country with a circus company, and later with fete and fair amusements. About 20 years ago the deceased and his second wife resided at Preston Court Farm, Beddingham, for a number of years, and afterwards they went to live at Toy Farm, on the Firle Downs. His wife died about ten years ago. Since that time Mr Harmer had stayed in the village during the summer months.
