Glynde Community Pool

Welcome to the website of the Glynde Community Pool. This historic community pool is for the use of Glynde, Beddingham and Firle residents, workers and their guests and is run entirely by volunteers. It is an open air, unheated pool located in a beautiful rural setting in Glynde and was gifted to the villages in 1904 by Thomas Seymour Brand, then owner of Glynde Estate. You can read more about its history here. Each year it is open from May until sometime in September - depending on the weather!

The pool is unsupervised and anyone wishing to swim needs to become, or be accompanied by, a member of the Glynde and Beddingham Swimming Club. If you are a resident of, or work in, the three parishes or your child attends Firle School you can join via our membership page, where you can also find more information about being a member. Our villages are unusual and fortunate in having a community pool and we warmly welcome new and returning members.

We try to keep membership fees reasonable, but the pool is not cheap to run and the membership income doesn't cover our costs. We hence run a number of fundraising events through the year: details of these, along with other activities such as Pool Cleaning Day and general pool updates, can be found on our twitter page. We welcome your help with any of these events and activities- just get in touch with one of us on the Committee.

Enjoy the pool and please help us to look after this wonderful facility.

To be embraced and sustained by the light green water was less a pleasure, it seemed, than the resumption of a natural condition
